Keweenaw National Historic Park

Keweenaw National Historic Park‘s mission is to preserve and interpret the history of copper mining in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula.

To help achieve that, the park has three intertwined goals: to collaborate actively with partners to preserve historic resources; encourage a preservation ethic throughout the region; and provide opportunities for reflection about local, national, and contemporary issues rooted in mining history. These include: labor and workers’ rights; immigration and citizenship; and resource extraction and environmental stewardship.
