Sarah Case

In her current role as Program Director, Sarah Case leads ICSC’s Transitional Justice Consortium, a group of 9 organizations, each with different areas of thematic and geographic expertise, collectively dedicated to a multidisciplinary, survivor-centered approach to transitional justice. As part of this work, Sarah has collaborated with survivors and activists around the world to advance truth, justice and repair. In addition, Sarah currently leads ICSC’s consulting and co-creation initiatives with museums, historic sites and memory initiatives in North America.

ICSC’s work sits at the intersection of the arts, memorialization, social justice, human rights and public history–a combination of issues and themes in which Sarah is deeply invested. Sarah is a passionate believer in the power of nuanced, thoughtful storytelling to shift perspectives, bridge divides and encourage empathy and understanding where they didn’t exist before. During her 7 years at ICSC, she has been inspired by the courage, resilience and creativity of survivors and activists she has partnered with around the world and has seen the impact of ICSC’s unique approach to tackling injustice and inequality through the lens of memory.

Born and raised in Camanche, Iowa, Sarah holds a MA in Human Rights Studies from Columbia University, and a BA in Art History, also from Columbia. Sarah joined the Coalition following eight years of work with the Global Arts Corps, where she served as managing director and played a key role in the development of innovative theatre and film projects dedicated to fostering social cohesion. Previously, Sarah worked with multiple art galleries in New York City. She is an Associate Producer on the award-winning documentary A Snake Gives Birth to a Snake.
