The Troubles and Beyond: Curating Conflict

NATIONAL MUSEUMS NI

This evaluation of The Troubles and Beyond explores the methodology behind the curation of the collection. The approach is described as being underpinned by ethical principles, a keen awareness of the responsibilities associated with curating difficult history, and an openness to both conversation and contradiction. It relies on academic and community involvement so that the consequent interpretation is based on critical thinking, multiple perspectives, and lived experience. This project also aimed to be inclusive and to ensure people had direct involvement in developing the collection and its subsequent interpretation.
