Nuvuyo's Room
Nuvuyo’s sister Thelma came rushing into the Museum. She told us, “I’ve come to see our room.” Thelma recognized her mother’s black cooking and baking pot. She touched an item or two. She smiled as she looked at the photos on the wall. She ran her hand over the lemon-coloured candlewick bedspread and moved into the corner, where her parent’s photograph hung on the wall.
She covered her face with her hands and said: “This is too much for me to handle, it is like I’ve just stepped right into our room the way it was when we were living in the building in Cross Street District Six.”
