In 2010, members of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience Latin American Network decided to compose a photo exhibition to address, through images, particularly relevant moments of the political histories of each country in the recent past.

The institutions in each country selected those images most representative or emblematic of the transitions from authoritarian rule or dictatorship to democracy, transformation of internal armed conflict to democratic processes, or milestones, fractures and turning points in social and political history in recent decades.

The activity’s objectives are two-fold: First, to test the possibility of  a traveling exhibition that, through very simple mechanisms, could be printed and displayed in each of the network sites and other institutions. The second objective was to provoke a debate on ways in which we represent−in the samples and museological displays at the institutions−transitions or milestones that marked recent history.
