News from the Board of Trustees
Board of Trustees Chair Doudou Diène visited Côte d’Ivoire earlier this month, is his capacity as U.N. Independent Expert on Human Rights, to conduct an evaluation before the nation’s December 11 elections, the first since the outbreak of civil war in December 2010. He will present his findings in a special report to the U.N. in March 2012.
Mr. Diène’s visit garnered significant coverage in the African and International press:
Rights a concern ahead of Ivorian vote, UPI, 12/6/11
Côte d’Ivoire: UN rights expert in follow-up mission, StarAfrica, 12/6/11
We look forward to sharing more about the incredible work of Doudou Diène in Côte d’Ivoire, and the courageous and insightful work of our other board members around the world.
